Hi, my name is Gigi.
I became a photographer because I grew up surrounded by beauty that not enough people were stopping to document. As a first-generation woman of color from South Central Los Angeles, I learned early that the places and moments closest to you are often the ones that go unseen and I wanted to change that. Whether I'm hiking into the San Gabriel Mountains before sunrise or finding the perfect vantage point over the downtown skyline, I'm chasing the feeling that stops you in your tracks and makes you actually look. That's what I want every image to do for you.
What sets me apart is that I shoot both ends of the LA spectrum, the wild and the urban, each with the same esteem. I don't see those as opposites. This city is both things at once, and my work lives in that tension that creates harmony.
